WHY YOUR SKIN MIGHT NOT BE THE REAL PROBLEM

When women come to see me, they often arrive believing they have a skin problem.

They’ve tried different products, changed their skincare routines countless times, invested in treatments, and spent hours researching ingredients online. Yet despite all their efforts, they still feel frustrated by persistent acne, sensitivity, redness, puffiness, dullness, or premature ageing.

What I’ve learnt over the years is that skin is rarely just about skin.

Our skin is constantly communicating with us. It reflects what’s happening internally, emotionally and physically. Sometimes it’s telling us that inflammation is present. Sometimes it’s responding to hormonal shifts, digestive imbalances, poor sleep, chronic stress, dehydration, or a nervous system that has been operating in survival mode for far too long.

This is why I take a different approach.

Whilst skincare products absolutely have their place, I don’t believe healthy skin comes from chasing the latest ingredient or constantly switching routines. Instead, I focus on understanding the whole person sitting in front of me.

I want to know:

  • How well are you sleeping?

  • How stressed do you feel?

  • Are you constantly rushing from one thing to the next?

  • Are you drinking enough water?

  • Is your digestion functioning well?

  • Do you carry tension in your jaw, neck or shoulders?

  • Do you ever truly slow down?

These questions matter because the body works as one connected system.

For example, I regularly see clients who are struggling with breakouts despite using excellent skincare. When we look deeper, we often uncover other contributing factors such as stress, inflammation, digestive concerns, hormonal changes or lifestyle habits that may be affecting the skin’s ability to heal and repair.

Likewise, facial tension, jaw clenching and fascial restrictions can influence circulation, lymphatic flow and the overall appearance of the face.

The more experience I gain as a therapist, the more I realise that true skin health isn’t about fighting the body—it’s about supporting it.

Sometimes the most powerful changes aren’t found in a treatment room at all.

They happen when a client begins drinking enough water.

When they create a calming evening routine.

When they start supporting their gut health.

When they improve their sleep.

When they finally give themselves permission to slow down.

My role isn’t simply to treat skin. It’s to help guide women back towards a healthier, more connected version of themselves.

Because when the body feels supported, the skin often follows.

And that’s where lasting results begin.

If you are tired of chasing symptoms, and would like a more holistic approach to your skin and wellbeing, I’d love to support you.
